Two by two, hands of blue

(The title is a reference to Firefly, for those who were wondering)

This morning, Teddy gets both Mom and Dad for a while. Of course, Amy called dibs, and she's sitting, reading to him. Teddy currently has a quite eclectic reading list. There's Beatrix Potter, which his Grandma Federowicz bought him, and which he's enjoying quite a bit. There's also The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Amy is reading that right now. Finally, in the evenings, when it's just me and him, I read Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. So we're pretty much raising him geek orthodox.

Which inspired the title of this post, since we're both here, and we both have to wear gloves while we're in here still. He's getting over the infection, it looks like, as his lungs seem a little more clear, and the goo they're pulling out is clear to cloudy, but not green or brown. He's getting 6 mL of milk put through a feeding tube right now as part of the transition from IV feeding to actually eating again. He's breathing over the respirator, so he's the one who's initiating breaths, which is a good sign. He usually gets cranky when they do the care for him (taking blood, cleaning him up, checking vitals, etc.), but I think that's just because he's tired of being here. He's generally doing pretty well. They're scheduling an echo again to check to see how his heart has done with everything, and pending that, we'll have a better estimate about how we're progressing.
