The plan today
Teddy is doing much, much better. He's not too puffy, now. He just needs to urinate the remaining excess fluids in him out so that they can close his chest. He looks a little gross, so I'm not sending out pictures of him laying in the ICU. He has a big red patch on his chest right now where he's still open, and they'll close him shortly. He's breathing a bit on his own, without the respirator. For those who didn't know, the respirator would have been in use whether he'd had his incident last night or not. So, let's round this update out with a few frequently asked questions.
1. I wish I could be there more/at all, but I've been sick/I have to work/I have little kids that I can't bring up!
Wow. Right off that bat, we're ignoring the questions part. OK, hypothetical person. That's fine. It's OK. We understand. First of all, right now there's pretty much nothing anyone can do. He's in the ICU, he's sedated and there are all manner of tubes and stuff coming off him. Keep your germs and small children away, please. Also, life's busy. Trust me. This I understand. As it is, Amy and I are gratified and thankful for all the support we've received as it is. Finally, it's a small area here. When the grandparents stop by, and we're here, there's barely room for anyone else, as we tested last night when my parents, Amy's mom, Aunt Emily and Uncle Jason all stopped by to see him. I understand the sentiment, believe me. But, frankly, I can't imagine trying to sleep here, for example.
2. Is there anything you or Amy need?
Less panics, more time to sleep. At some point I may try to take advantage of you all...I mean, take you up on your offers, and make a list of some things that we need to get done. I know that there's one or two pieces of furniture up at the Sawmill Babies R Us that I need to pick up. I may need to find someone with a vehicle larger than mine to make that happen. Our neighbors, very kindly, mowed our lawn one day, which was awesome.
