Healing is going well
They're closing Teddy's chest even as I write this. He's been healing at a pretty good rate so far. He's a little jaundiced, but that's actually expected right now, so that's not a big deal. The nurses are keeping an eye on it. Amy's doing full days at the Hospital with him, and I'm splitting between the office and the hospital. Mostly, I want to start trying to figure out how to incorporate work with him. They're pretty understanding here at Northwoods, so I'm not worried about anything, but I also want to make sure that I keep up with what's happening at work since we're going through a big upgrade push there right now.
Teddy's numbers have all looked good, according to the doctor at rounds this morning. He'll be in the ICU, they think, until early next week, which I'm interpreting as Wednesday. He has to manage breathing on his own, which he's working on right now, but he's still on a respirator. He seems to like to take breaks from time to time to let the machine handle it so he can rest a bit. He'll also have to have his chest tube removed, which means that he needs to stop draining. He hasn't been draining too much, but he's expected to have a little more run-off once they close him up and that puts a little bit of strain on him. After that, it's a matter of them taking more and more stuff off him as he slowly heals. Then it's probably another week or 10 days in the step-down, and then home at last.
