Our first bath (at home)
One of the things about being in the hospital for, like, forever, is that a lot of the "firsts" that many parents have, we've either had in a strange setting, or have been done without, necessarily, our full participation. So, we're having a new set of "firsts" at home. For example, tonight we had our first home bath. Teddy was...less than thrilled with this first experience. This isn't a direct quote, more of a sense of what he said, but I think it could be phrased like this:
This indignity which you have inflicted upon me this night shall not go unavenged nor shall it be forgotten. As soon as I have sufficient means to vent my list of grievances against you, this shall be at the very top of that list.Of course, this came out as a long, inarticulate series of wailing cries. The worst part, of course, is that this happened after a bit of a crying jag of his when both Amy and I were more or less tired and frustrated, and I forgot to get any pictures at all. Oh well. Perhaps next time.
Fear not, he'll quickly forget all about the indignities of the bath once you take his first rectal temperature.
ReplyDeleteThat's not to say he won't redouble his vengeance planning, just that it won't be the bath that motivates him.
