Rounds
I managed to get to Children's today in time for rounds. It's strange to be here for them, just because it's lot of numbers that go by, and you don't understand any of them. However, Dr. Fernandez, one of the surgeons, was nice enough to give me the sort of parents' version. Basically, Teddy is pretty self-stabalizing for the most part right now. There was a bit of a concern that due to the excess blood that runs to his lungs that he'd need to be on less oxygen, but it looks like he's doing alright for the moment on room air. However, that excess blood to the lungs is the reason that this heart defect is a problem, really, and they'll want to get that repaired sooner rather than later. So they're making a plan and he'll probably be in surgery some time this week or early next. Today's big treatment news is that they'll be running a picc line to replace he umbilical lines that he has now. This will be something that he'll have in him until he leaves, pretty much. The other big news for today is that Amy gets to come over and see him. I'm going to call her and make the plans for that next.
So, I've met doctors, and I have a little more information about the surgery, but that's what I've got. I also met Fr. Sylvester Onyeachonam, the chaplain here.
