Teddy is on bypass: going well
Teddy is currently on heart/lung bypass, and things are going well. So far, the operation has gone entirely as expected and things have been great. We're waiting to hear more, obviously, but he's been doing very well so far. This is the long, slow waiting part where we get little updates "Lines are all in, starting soon. Teddy doing well!" and "Dr. G is starting shortly. Teddy doing great!" where we just sit and wait. There's exactly nothing we can do right now. We just have to sit quietly and trust that it's going to be fine.
This is a Bentall Procedure, which has been described since 1968. It's as routine as any surgery involving heart/lung bypass can be. There's nothing in this that should be surprising or strange or weird. Dr. G knows Teddy's anatomy. He made most of it in the neighborhood where he's working today. So you'd think the waiting would be easier. But it never is. It's always just sitting, in a room, waiting in your own little island of tension and anxiety, just like the people sitting next to you, in their own little island of tension and anxiety.
