11ish Months Out
Teddy is doing great with his mechanical heart valve. It's an On-X heart valve, which is apparently meant for lower doses of blood thinner. Speaking of, he took to swallowing pills in a flash when he realized it meant he didn't have to taste ground up Warfarin. He's also done a great job with the INR test, which is a finger stick test to see how long it takes for his blood to clot. He's done so well, that we're doing them at home now, which is nerve wracking for Amy and I, but a lot easier than driving up to Westerville to get it done. He bruises a bit more than most kids and he's always got a bruise somewhere on him that we're curious about. He never notices them, because he's 8, almost 9, and at that age, running around and falling down and bumping into stuff is part of how you play.
He's feeling so much better than he was last year at this time, so much more active and so much more aware and awake.
