A Ballooning Big Day

Ted is in the OR and Amy and I are ensconced in the family waiting room. We had a talk with the surgeon about what they are planning today. They will run a catheter up his femoral artery up to his heart. This is a very standard procedure. The only wrinkle is that Teddy's valve is artificial and constructed out of CoreMatrix and not Teddy's natural valve. It doesn't change anything, it just means that it may take longer since they'll be stretching his valve and then evaluating for a bit and then repeating.
The worst case scenario is that they stretch the valve and that there is too much leaking and so they have to schedule him for surgery and we don't go home tomorrow. The next worse is that they look at it when all is said and done, and they haven't improved the gradient of the leak, so we have surgery in a few weeks. Ideally, we're putting off surgery for 6, 12 or potentially even 24 months.

We're going to be here for a while, it looks like, so we're settling in and relaxing. Or trying to, anyway.
