Recovering

Today Teddy woke up feeling a lot better than he had. He sat up, with help. He's moving a bit more, but not too much yet. Today is going to be a day where he has to get up and walk a bit more on his own. He walked around the bed and over to the chair in the hospital last night to sit on my lap and sleep some. It's probably about 15 or so feet to get there, which is pretty good distance for someone the day after open heart surgery, I thought. He had a rough time with some pills last night. He's never had pills he couldn't chew, so we crushed them and put them in water. He usually does fine with that, but these pills, or the two types together or something, tasted wretched. He had to get them mixed into apple juice to force most of them down. It was not easy.

I went home and took care of the cat and got some sleep and a shower. Amy stayed overnight. She'll be heading home for a little R&R and to clean up herself this morning, once she wakes up. She's been sleeping since I got here at 6. She was asleep before that, really.

Today's Agenda:

  1. Walk around some.
  2. Learn to swallow pills.
  3. Heal up
  4. Amy to go home for a bit.
  5. Walk some more.
  6. Eat some more
Also, a big thank you to his teachers and counselors and class and therapists at Stevenson. They sent in some balloons and a stuffed sloth last night that was very much appreciated.
