Eye update

Teddy at Franklin Park
Check out my cool hat!
For those who haven't heard, we took Teddy to a pediatric ophthalmologist today. We'd noticed that sometimes, especially when he's tired and focused on something far away, we'd see one eye that wasn't tracking with the other. This, naturally, made us pretty freaked out. So we scheduled an appointment to get it checked out.

The short news is, yep, that's exactly what it is. He has intermittent alternating exotropia. It means that sometimes one eye or the other looks outward. He doesn't realize it's happening. It's no risk to his vision. This isn't something we caused. It's probably not related to his heart. It's just a thing that happens sometimes to kids and it's apparently not a big deal. It may get better. It may stay the same. It may get worse. However, it's basically just an odd thing that he does sometimes. So, if you're ever around him and you notice this, it's probably means that he's zoned out and staring off into space and probably a little tired.

Teddy, listening to music in the car
In other news, Teddy is still a sweet little kid. He's started to really get into music, and letters, and numbers. He's had the alphabet down forever, but he also has all the sounds that the letters make down now as well. He's starting to slowly put them together and remember spelling of words he hears spelled a lot (like our last name). On the musical front, he's a fan of The Who (even if Baba O'Reilly is "fields song"), and he likes parts of the sound track to Guardian's of the Galaxy. Come and Get Your Love is a particular favorite.
